The Mission Statement provides direction for reaching the vision. It needs to emphasize the following:

You will need to find your District and School Mission Statements, so you have them handy. Your Mission Statement needs to align with those.

Math-Related Goals: Look at enrollment in advanced math courses, by standardized tests by race, income, and gender; ACT/SAT math subscale scores compared to the benchmarks for college readiness; math course passing rates.

Your goals are critical to the decisions being made. The goals determine what data will be relevant, what services will be provided, and how success will be measured and communicated. The goals should be consistent with your school's improvement plan.

Close the achievement gap
Increase the percentages of low-income and minority students who score proficient or higher on standardized math tests.
Increase the percentage of students who score at the benchmarks on the ACT or SAT math and STEM sub-scales.
Increase the percentage of students who score within 2 points of the benchmarks on ACT Math who retake the tests and then make or exceed the benchmarks.
Reduce the overall percentage of students who fail math courses.
A targeted group of students who have already failed math courses will retake them and pass.
Increase the number of low-income and minority students who take Honors, AP, and IB math courses.
Increase the number of students who pass algebra by the end of 9th grade.
